I am Douglas Cullen and I love to talk. Plus, I love to teach. If you are looking for someone speak about food, language, and culture. I might be able to help. My twenty plus years of living cooking and teaching in Mexico has given me knowledge and insights that I am happy to share.
Talks and Demonstrations
Are you a teacher? Are you looking for a fun way to incorporate real world content into your curriculum? When possible, I can do talks and demonstrations that can be incorporated into lessons for:
- Social Studies Classes
- Spanish Classes (I can do the demonstration in Spanish.)
- History Classes
Food demonstrations are a fun way to discuss food and culture. I can show the students how to prepare a dish, talk about the cultural importance of the dish and take questions from the students.
Online, Direct to the Classroom
We choose a topic and a set a time. The demonstrations I do online through Skype, Zoom or the platform used by your school.

My Experience
I have an M.A. in English as a Second Language which has allowed work as a language and culture professor at the UDEM in Monterrey, and the UNAM, the Instituto Sanmiguelense in San Miguel de Allende. Over a period of 7 years, I opened 4 independent coffee shops in Puerto Vallarta and for 5 years I had a cafe in San Miguel de Allende.
